Truly Artisanal Denim

Made By People, By Hands

Check out this video to see how we make our artisanal hand-woven denim, step by step.

Starting with preparing the natural indigo vat, the video shows the process for cold dyeing of yarn hanks in the freshly prepared indigo vat.

The dyed hanks are then reeled using a manually operated make-shift machine, followed by manual warping.

The individual warp threads in the freshly prepared warp beam are then individually hand-knotted to the threads in previously running warp.

UNMATCHED FABRIC COLLECTION

We offer an unbelievable, unimaginable, and unrivalled, range of eco-friendly hand-woven selvedge denim fabrics, woven on traditional shuttle looms, without using any electrically operated machines in the entire process.

Our diverse range includes numerous combinations of yarn counts (6s to 30s), yarn type ( hand-spun, mill-spun regular, mill-spun slub), and dyes (vegetable/organic and reactive).

The fabric weight ranges from 4.5 to 13+ oz / sq yard (150 to 450 GSM), and is supplied in widths ranging from 30 inches to 48 inches (75 cm to 120 cm).

We also offer organic handloom selvedge denim {made from ORGANIC COTTON}, on special requests.

ECO-FRIENDLY DYEING

CARING FOR THE NATURE

Natural dyes are known for their use in colouring of textiles since ancient times. A wide range of shades can be obtained from various parts of plants, including roots, bark, leaves, flowers and fruits.

Natural dyes give us very pleasant, soothing and soft shades as compared to synthetic dyes, while at the same time being friendly for human skin and the environment.

Even though the color fastness of natural dyes is not as good as synthetic dyes, and the natural dyes are quite costlier compared to the synthetic ones, the use of non-toxic and ecofriendly natural dyes on textiles has been continually increasing over the last few years, and will continue to increase in future also, because of the increasing awareness about the impact of chemicals on our environment, and also the harmful effects of some hazardous synthetic dyes on human skin.
